A couple of days ago I watched the film about Séraphine Louis (later de Senils), the self-taught, strange painter. I must say that as of late (late in this case being a slow, but steady process of many months, maybe even a few years) I've come to like more sedated, neutral and "easy" colors (though bordeaux is still my favorite color). No fuss, just very clean and simple lines. However, upon getting a glimpse of Séraphine's mind and her art work, all the passionate colors and overbearing motifs of trees, flowers and fruit I had to move away from that previous notion I have of well, everything. At least in the case of Séraphine's paintings. I sometimes find it difficult to like paintings of things in nature such as these - they bring forth a feeling of sadness and dispair in me - a depressing feeling altogether. But these paintings have so much life and passion in them. It feels like the paintings - the trees, the flowers, the leaves - are moving,t he colors bouncing around, maybe even dancing.

A couple of nice things
A couple of nice things about where I live right now: eating vanilla ice cream (which I normally don't find particularly enjoyable, but this one here is just so unbelievably good) with chopped hazelnuts on top out of this incredible dessert bowl, and enjoying the decadent feeling of having a chandelier in the dining room. It definitely deserves a feast or something.

Mistaken for magic, becoming a habit
Stills from the music video of Chairlift's Amenaemonesia. I'm not particularly hooked on the song, but don't tell me these stills don't make you want to go over to YouTube right away and see the music video. I find it to be absolutely hilarious. It makes me want to be silly, it makes me want to dance (just like in the video). I also find Caroline Polachek to have such a beautiful face, which makes this sci-fi, 80s-inspired, I-don't-know-what video even better to watch. What a strange, strange thing it is.

Dapperness
I love it when a man looks dapper. My absolute favorites: Steve McQueen and Paul Newman. Sadly they're not here anymore, but luckily lots of nice pictures of them are (and of many other handsome men). In my opinion, there are very few men who can pull of this look. You know, a prim white shirt and a wool sweater. On most men it just looks boring, on some they can incorporate some kind of distraction to make it somewhat interesting. But turning this prim and proper look into something more seductive is quite a wearisome task if you don't have it in you by nature (such as Steve and Paul definitely have). I guess a good beard helps. Just see for yourself.

The gap-toothed
For this post the only thing one needs is a good appreciation for gap-toothed, full-lipped models. I know I love a good diastema, and if you find yourself with full lips as well, that doesn't hurt either. Anyway, I haven't had any "favorite" models in a long while now (a result of approaching the whole fashion thing in a whole different way the latter years), but Ashley Smith and Lindsey Wixson might be the ones to turn the tables.
